Alexandra Brockdorf, PhD

Dr. Brockdorf (she/her) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Memphis. She completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln after completing her clinical internship at the Charleston Consortium on the Traumatic Stress track. Dr. Brockdorf's research focuses on behavioral health risk and recovery after trauma, with an emphasis on sexual assault. She is particularly interested in the connection between modifiable health behaviors (e.g., alcohol use, sleep) and traumatic stress, with the aim of identifying novel targets for clinical interventions. She also studies 1) sexual assault prevention, 2) access to care and barriers to service use after sexual assault, and 3) how alcohol intersects with each of these domains.
Sydney Broadway, BA
Graduate Student
Sydney (she/her) is a first-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology Program. She attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where she earned her BA in Psychology. Her undergraduate research focused on intimate partner violence (IPV). For her honors thesis, she conducted research on the impact of victim and perpetrator gender expression on IPV bystander intervention behavior. Her current research interests include the effect of sexual orientation and religious attitudes & experiences on interpersonal violence outcomes. Her clinical interests include identity formation and trauma.
