Passion Projects and Other Active Involvements
"The Artsy Craftsy is a Malaysian platform that explores creativity to inspire personal + collective growth through creative arts & crafts content, community, and activities. "
It all started in my little room in my mother's house....
I created The Artsy Craftsy as a blog in 2008, after noticing that there were no local creative websites or blogs. I was looking for an outlet to help cope with the pressures of adulting like every young 20 something-year-olds. I have forgotten how much joy creativity has brought me with all the expectations and setbacks. So, to reconnect with my inner artist, I proceeded with starting a simple blog while I was working full-time, and made it my space to document my creative exploration. My goal was to offer my creativity-centric blog as a platform to those who are embarking on a similar self-discovery journey. I included content on DIY arts and crafts, while sharing my thoughts and personal experience on how the creativity + art making has helped me with self-empowerment. I also started networking with local artists and crafters, and featured them on the blog. That's when I knew, where I wanted to steer The Artsy Craftsy towards to and work towards it everyday, eversince then.
Long story short, the year 2020, although a devastating year to the world with many suffered from the pandemic, it became a significant time for The Artsy Craftsy. It gave me the chance to reflect and reevaluate my values and goals as a Creative, to change its course to make way for something new: To become a community-focused platform that inspires creativity for personal growth. 2021 marked a special milestone as I made the decision to open up The Artsy Craftsy and evolve from a one-woman show to a crafty band of four. Collectively, as a team, we carry over 25 years of experience in the arts and crafts industry, including retail, product knowledge, servicing, teaching, and events.
Together with my partners, Doralisa and Adeline, we co-founded Craft Affair Malaysia in 2015, a curated artisanal handmade market event. Our first event was launched in 2016. Our goal was to continue to educate the public on the value & quality of handcrafted products and to uplift our local makers. Craft Affair events was always filled with a wide, but carefully curated selections of vendors, as well as, arts & crafts workshops and make & take activities offered by local artists and crafters.

In 2020, I decided that it was time for me to start painting for my SELF, take my creative exploration even further and let my art breathe! I begin by taking part in local art events where I can represent myself as a artist-painter. My debut was competing in the Art Battle Malaysia in conjunction of Women's Day, followed by local art exhibitions. My first art exhibition was a Mental Health awareness theme. As an individual, mental health well being is a priority. The theme was perfect and timing was right!
