The King of Bohemia is telling Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson that Irene Adler will ruin him if she releases a picture of him and her together.

Sherlock Holmes is asking Dr. Watson how many stairs there are on the staircase they pass every day. Holmes tells Watson that he sees but he does not observe, whereas Holmes sees and observes.

Irene Adler is disguised as a man as she follows Sherlock Holmes around. Adler says, "Good-Night, Mr. Sherlock Holmes." Holmes does not recognize her.

Mary Sutherland goes to Sherlock Holmes to ask if he can find her missing fiancé.

Sherlock Holmes confronts Mr. Windibank (Mary Sutherland's step-father) about deceiving Mary. Mr. Windibank then runs away when Holmes grabs his whip to punishment him for his deception.

Sherlock Holmes fell asleep after running numerous chemical tests all day. Holmes typically appears to look clean cut and well put together by always wearing a suit and dress shoes.

While I did not discuss this piece, I thought this drawing of Sherlock Holmes peacefully listening to an orchestra would help display his character, and how he usually dresses.

Sherlock Holmes is lounging somewhere smoking from his pipe. (I could not find the story this drawing was from.) Holmes can be typically seen smoking his pipe and it seems to be an item that people associate with him.
