Troy Millward clinched the Tom King Cup on Sunday. He beat Jamie O’Donnell 6-3 to win the £150 first prize at Neptune Snooker Club. O’Donnell received £75. Both finalists had close semi-finals, with Millward edging Luke Bowry and O’Donnell seeing off Matt Champ, both players winning 5- 4. Millward had eased past Martin Regan (5-1) in the quarterfinal and Jason Oakey (4- 0) in round two. He overcame Tony Gray 4-3 in round one. The eventual winner was one of six players to progress through the preliminary stage, winning his game against Danny Harris 4- 0. Gray overcame his disappointment of losing early on to Millward by reaching the Plate final but he was beaten there by Shaun Backett 3- 0. Backett had reached the cup quarterfinal, losing 5-2 to O’Donnell.
