Aaron Armstrong Memorial Finalists 2017: Matt Champ and Troy Millward
TROY Millward took the glory from Matt Champ on a warm day which saw a fantastic 38 people gather from Sheppey and Sittingbourne to compete for the Aaron Armstrong Memorial Trophy at Neptune Snooker Club.
The finalists had rather different journeys to the final, with Millward losing just 8 frames but Champ losing 14 and having to win 3 final frame deciders to get a chance at winning the trophy.
The final was less one-sided than the score shows with Troy winning 6-2 and the £200 prize money. Matt put up a very good fight but Troy had been class all day and perhaps the fatigue of playing so many marathons had taken its toll on Matt. He still took home £100 for his efforts however.
A massive thanks to Charlie Minta who put in a huge effort organising and running the event, and hosting it at the Neptune Snooker Club, and thanks to the sponsors of the event, Elmhurst Caravan Park.
Sittingbourne's James Bowden won the plate, beating Lee Birchall 3-1 in the final. James took £40 and Lee won £20.
