Enfield North London
We went to an event in Enfield north London, It was a snooker/pool hall, Ken Doherty was the resident pro for the snooker hall, And our old friend Mark Hewitson was manager of the pool hall, It was on the top floor of the building, Mark was A great character he was 6ft 6” and I’ve seen more fat on a cold chip.
This was the time when the I.R.A were planting bombs in Bags in and around London.
You were advised to report any unattended bags.
The man on the PA system allocating tables to the players was told of an unattended bag, he announces over the PA system there is an unattended bag here would the owner please claim it, no one claims it. He announces this three times, then says if the owner of this bag dose not claim it in five minutes it’s going out the window.
Five minutes is up and his mate picks up the bag and is going to throw it out the window. When the man on the mike say hold on that’s MY BAG you C- - T all this over a live mike.#
It didn’t blow the building up but it certainly brought the house down.
