Sheppey Superleague Team 1985/86

In 1984/85 The Sheppey Super league pool team had reached the Kent finals for the first time while i was involved, We lost 5-4 in the first round, However we stayed at the venue (pool land) Ramsgate all day and the team and our supporters Robby Woodard and his gang, drank the place dry, on leaving my mini bus would not start and i had to strip down the carburettor, All this in the pitch dark, snowing, and a bus full of pissed pool players shouting abuse at me, never mind got the bus going and we made it home safe, The team from Gravesend had won that day and were “ Kent super league champions “

The first Match of the 1985/6 season Sheppey were playing Gravesend away, As we walked in the door their capt came up to us and laughing said have you come to take our title, Yes we said, And we did, We had two very good additions to last years team Ian Hubbard & Kevin Field, We done them 9-0.

This Sheppey side went on to win all their matches home and away excepted one and that was a match we did not have to play, The opposing team Ashford turned up over an hour late and we could have claimed the match as most of the Sheppey lads had left the venue, we scrape a team up and we lost 5-4 it made no difference Sheppey went on to be Kent Super league champions 1985/6 just!!!
