In 1983/4 My self and Malc Fisher took over the running of the Sheppey Pool League along with Les Tucker ( chairman) and our committee, We had well over 400 registered players, Its not easy keeping every body happy but we did our best, Now back then the two top teams on the Island were Q.S.C. & E.W.M.C they Were fierce rivals and it was always one of these two that won the winter Premier league, My self and Malc had become KCPA committee members Representing Sheppey, We both thought if we could get the best of these teams to play in the same Kent Super League Team, Now Know as the Interleague
we would have a formidable team so that’s what we did, Ray Farbrother, Kevin Field And Colin (polly) Perkins, From Q.S.C. and Tony Gray, Rob Montgomery, Cliff Montgomery, from E.W.M.C. bring in a few of the other top Island players like Ian Hubbard, Wayne Brett, And there you have it, As Super League matches were played on the last Sunday of each month you could not guarantee all these players would be available especially in the summer so you needed some steady fringe players who you knew would always be there, That would be John Allison, Barry Willement , and our Capt Malc Fisher, Malc would pick the team and order of play but to be honest the team pick it self, Malc just had to pick the order in which they played, I just made sure we got to the venue and home again. That’s How Sheppey became “ POOL KINGS OF KENT”
