September 2017 Exhibition

Village Artists Display Their Talents

After a gap of ten years, and with a sense of apprehension the Shepherdswell Art Group decided to put on another art exhibition in the village hall to show case the village talent and to give something back to the community. The initial planning started nearly a year ago and Chris Cumes agreed to take the lead organising the event. Early on the group took the decision to invite Wendy’s Art Group, another village based art group run by Wendy Cousins, to join us.

As the planning progressed Dick Martin came up with a great design for the display boards and stands. After a dummy run to test the display board design and to plan the layout, the show took place on the last Saturday in September.

There were over 80 exhibits by 20 artists. Apart from the pictures and the excellent refreshments, there were two other items on display. There was an album of photographs of the Group ten years ago which created a lot of interest. Over the last few years, the group has been responsible for the sketches that appear on the front of the illage magazine and a folder of the designs was on display.

The day proved a great success and over 100 visitors came to see the display, which made all the hard work that the group put into the preparation worthwhile. The visitors seemed to enjoy it lingering to compare notes on various pictures and displays and to catch up with friends over a cup of tea and a piece of cake.

All that remains to decide now is whether we are going to hold another exhibition.
