The Shenendehowa Council PTA Award for Volunteerism was developed by the Council PTA in 2001, as a tribute to James Grande’s volunteer services, in particular, on the Board of Education at Shenendehowa. Jim retired from the board in 2000 following nine years of service. Through his commitment and tireless effort, he instituted numerous positive changes that still benefit students, parents, faculty, and staff to date.

The $750 scholarship will be awarded to a student who is applying to a 2 or 4-year college and has demonstrated outstanding traits of character and service as evidenced by their “above and beyond” participation in volunteer activities at school and within the community. Please note that volunteer activities, whether at school or within the community, that were performed to satisfy ANY requirements for a course, award, religious sacrament, and/or minimum requirement to be a “member in good standing” for a club or organized group should NOT be included on pages 3 and 4 of this application.
