Mei gave an invited talk at conference session entitled “Innovative Analytical Measurements at the Micro and Nano Scale” at Midwest-Great Lakes Regional ACS meeting, St. Charles, Missouri. Sept 25 - Sept 27, 2023. Graduate students, Conrad and Anupriya, and Mei attended the 11th International Workshop on Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy (SECM) and Related Techniques, Montreal, Canada.
Sept 15, 2023. Mei gave an invited talk at the Department of Chemistry, University of Cincinnati. Many thanks to Prof. Ashley Ross for the invitation to visit. Had a great visit meeting with students and professors!
Sept 22, 2023. Congratulations to graduate student, Peibo, for passing the Qualifier Exam! Good job, Peibo!
Fall, 2023. Shen group undergraduate alumni, Hyunho Noh, is starting as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at University of Oklahoma.
August 2023: Shen group undergraduate student, Pramod, gave a very nice poster presentation at the Undergraduate Research Poster Session.
July 14 2023: Kendyl Williams presented his research at the Illinois Summer Research Symposium (ISRS). Nice job, Kendyl!
Summer 2023: We are excited to host Kendyl Williams, who is an undergraduate student from Chicago State University, to carry out research in Shen lab through the Summer Research Opportunities Program.

April 2023: Prof. Shen will give a James B. Kaler Science Lecture on "Analytical Chemistry for Understanding Brain Function and Diseases" in the The Staerkel Planetarium at Parkland College.
Sept 2023: Prof. Shen is organizing the11th International Workshop on Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy (SECM) and Related Techniques, together with Prof. Janine Mauzeroll of McGill University, Prof. Joaquín Rodríguez López at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Prof. Zhifeng Ding of Western University.
April 2023: Prof. Shen, as a 2020-2023 Scialog Fellow on Microbiome, Neurobiology and Disease, will attend the 2023 Scialog conference!
April 2023. Prof. Shen will give an invited talk on Nanoelectrochemistry for Studying the Biochemical Signaling at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, College of Medicine Rockford, Department of Bioengineering, University of Illinois at Chicago. Many thanks to Profs. June Li and Guoxing Zheng for the invitation. Had a great visit!
March 2023: Graduate students, Peibo Xu and Anupriya Satheesan, presented at spring 2023 ACS conference!
Peibo gave an oral talk on our new amperometric ion selective electrodes for sensing acetylcholine, where he collaborated with other group members and explored an array of characterization techniques including electrochemistry, SEM, EDS! Their work was published in Chem. Communication.
Anupriya presented about our new dual-functional nanoelectrodes for bioanalysis with high spatial temporal resolution!
March 2023: Shen group graduate student, Anupriya (Anu), received Women Chemists Committee (WCC) travel award!
Congratulations, Anu! Anu currently is the Co-chair and board coordinator for Young Chemist Committee (YCC) at our department!

March 2023: Shen group undergraduate student, Pramod, received summer research scholarship.
Congratulations to Pramod for receiving the Mary-Dell and Scott Chilton Scholarship for Undergraduate Research! We appreciate the support to Pramod; with this support, Pramod will continue his current reseach in developing new reference electrodes in collaboration with Conrad!
