Welcome to Shen lab
The Laboratory of electrochemistry and Bioanalytical Chemistry
The Shen Lab uses analytical chemistry, electrophysiology, and electron microscopy to unravel the mysteries of brain communication and diseases. One area of interest is the development of novel, multifunctional, nanometer-sized sensor probes for the detection of a wide range of neurotransmitters and bioanalytes and their application in neuroscience and biology. Another primary focus in the group is studying neurotransmission with nanometer spatial resolution, e.g., interrogating single synaptic neurotransmission. A new direction we developed is probing gut-brain axis with implantable electrodes in brain, which has a potential of revealing the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's disease.
We are composed of a diverse group of enthusiastic researchers with a passion for electrochemistry and neuroscience. If you are interested in joining the team, be sure to check out the current research projects below and reach out to us (link available on Group Members page).
