Hypatia (c. 360-415 CE) was the leader of the neoplatonist school of philosophy in Alexandria, and was widely known for being generous, having an expertise in teaching, and her love for learning. Little is known of her life, but she made a lasting impact on soctiety through her intelligence. She overcame the sexism she was faced with by being the best astronomer and mathematician of her time.
