Your nest box observations help track bluebird nesting success across Shelby County. When you share your results with the Shelby County Bluebird Club, the data helps measure eggs, hatchlings, and fledglings across local trails and backyard boxes.
These records support conservation work and help the club understand how bluebirds perform each season.
Once your nest box is installed, regular checks help ensure birds use it safely. Monitoring allows you to see when nesting begins, track eggs and young, and identify problems such as predators, parasites, or invasive species. A quick weekly check improves nesting success and helps protect bluebirds during the breeding season.
How to send your results
Email your nest box results to the Shelby County Bluebird Club at 901shelbycountybluebirdclub@gmail.com. You may send a simple email with your observations or attach a completed monitoring form. You can send results for each nest or send one email with all the nest results at the end of the season by Sept 1.
After each nest cycle ends, remove the old nest and discard it so the birds build a fresh nest for the next attempt. Bluebirds build a new nest before starting another cycle.
What to send
Send the following information when you report your results:
Your name
Nest box location or neighborhood

Every report helps build a clearer picture of bluebird nesting success across Shelby County. Thank you for helping monitor and protect local bluebirds.
