Dinosaur Excavation
Dinosaur Excavation
My students became paleontologists for a day as they sifted through dig sites to unearth artifacts and fossils.
They each had an opportunity to comb through the "pits" and discover shells, shark teeth, geodes, beads, jewelry, marbles, and more. As they uncovered these ancient treasures, they classified each as an artifact or fossil.
Students got to keep the dinosaur eggs that they found in the dig sites and took them back to their tables to chisel them open and see what was inside. Once their dino was free, they went to our Identification Station and had to determine what species of dinosaur they discovered.
At the end, students got to keep their dinosaurs and received a colorful card that included pictures and facts about their dinosaur.
