Ancient Irrigation
Ancient Irrigation
To learn about ancient farming techniques, students work in groups to create their own field of crops with different irrigation systems.Â
In groups of 3-4, students use sand, foil, construction paper, etc. to create a field and a river in their sheet pans. Then, they add irrigation features such as dams and canals using wooden sticks, rocks, etc. The goal is to get water from the river to their crops. Bonus points if they can also stop the water from flooding their fields.
