In my Ancient China Learning Stations Activity, students rotate through stations to learn about how silk is made, the Chinese writing system, and the myth of the Chinese Zodiac.
For in-person students, I have included what I set up at each station in my classroom below. However, all necessary resources are linked on the handout, making this activity easy to adapt for online learning or use as a webquest.
***This is my modified version of my original Ancient China Learning Stations Activity. This version was created when my school switched back to traditional schedule from a 90-minute block schedule. As a result, this version works best in a 60-minute class period. (This is why some stations seen in the pictures are not included.)
Students will watch the How It's Made Silk video on a Chromebook I have set up and answer the questions. I have two silk scarves that I place at this station for students to see what the final product is like.
At this station I have printouts of common Chinese characters and phrases. I also place mini white boards, dry erase markers, and microfiber eraser cloths. Students can practice writing Chinese characters then answer their questions.
I set up a Chromebook with the Myth Behind the Chinese Zodiac video. Students watch the video and answer the question about it. They then use the Chinese Zodiac printouts to find their zodiac sign and answer the remaining questions.
