As technology continues to evolve, it is crucial for educators to stay up-to-date with the latest tools and techniques that can improve online teaching and student engagement. Professional development programs can provide instructors with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively integrate technology into their teaching practice and create dynamic and engaging online learning experiences for their students. Ongoing professional development can also help instructors to continually assess and improve their teaching methods in response to the evolving needs of their students and the broader educational landscape.
Taking @One courses has taught me the importance of ongoing professional development to become an effective online teacher. I now understand that staying current and informed in my field and teaching practices is essential to mastering both the technical and pedagogical aspects of online teaching. By focusing on the essential skills in teaching and engaging in an effective professional development process, I can increase my students' learning and achievements while addressing their major learning challenges.
To be successful in this process, I will plan my professional development thoughtfully, implement it carefully, and seek feedback to ensure that it responds positively to my learning needs. Overall, I am committed to continuous learning and growth as an online educator to provide the best possible learning experience for my students.
I have completed four professional development courses with @One, which have taught me how to effectively present my content, improve my communication and interaction with students, design and analyze assessments, and create accessible online courses for learners from diverse backgrounds. I received a digital badge for each four-week course series that I successfully completed.
However, I did not stop at earning these badges, because I strongly believe that learning never stops. As a result, I decided to further my professional development by enrolling in the Instructional Design and Online Learning (IDOL) courses academy. This program will help me gain a deeper understanding of instructional design principles, best practices in online learning, and the latest technology trends in education. I am currently on track and plan to complete the program by June 2023. I am confident that this additional training will help me continue to grow as an educator and provide my students with the best possible learning experience.
