The Sheerwater Gardening and Allotments Association was first established in 1952 along with the Sheerwater Estate with approximately 25 plots available. It proved to be a thriving community of gardeners and allotment'ers that came together through their love of horticulture. The association began holding annual gardening shows from 1954, where they would compete and showcase their plants and produce. The allotment hut was manned by volunteers and sold plants and compost to the community at wholesale prices. Over the years the number of plots grew thanks to volunteers clearing over grown and unused land. Although many things have changed, our members love of horticulture and community still continues.
