Question:  How many library books can I check out at a time?

Answer:    Preschool students can check out one book at a time.  Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders can have 2 books checked out at a time.

Question:   How long can I keep the library books?

Answer:     Books are checked out for two weeks.  You may return them earlier if you are finished with them.  You may also re-check library books if you need more time to read them.

Question:   How can I keep my library books safe?

Answer:     All students are encouraged to keep their library books in your backpacks when you are not reading them.  This will ensure that you always have them at school and pets and younger siblings can't accidentally damage them.

HELPFUL HINT:  Keep the special plastic bag provided by Mrs. Wilmes in your backpack at all times. Put your library books in the plastic bag so they will be protected from accidental water bottle leaks or messy lunch boxes!!

Question:   What happens if I damage or lose my library book?

Answer:     The best way to keep library books clean and free from damage is to never eat or drink around your books and put them in a plastic sack inside your backpack.  Turning the pages using the outside edge of the page will help keep them from tearing.  However, sometimes accidents happen.  If something happens to your library book, just bring it to the library.  I'll repair it if I can.  If it cannot be repaired or it has been lost, you will need to pay for it so that we can purchase another copy.

Question:  How much are fines for overdue books?

Answer:     If your library book is overdue, just return it to the library.  We do not charge fines for overdue books.  If you aren't finished reading your book, simply ask to recheck it.  As long as another student isn't waiting for the book, you can recheck it as many times as you would like.
