AFIRIKA ARTFEST is an exhibition that brings together several visual artists (painters, photographers, street artists, architects, etc.) in different places in the city that hosts it. The mission of this course is to discover the impressive know-how of African talents.
Imagined as a real experience, AFIRIKA ARTFEST is an invitation to dissect different subjects through the prism of art.
'AfriCity' is a creative/ visual experimentation bringing into a contemporary and visionary area of study, the future possibilities and alternative realities of African cities, viewed from different angles and perspectives by reassessing and reinventing the urban architectural narratives with the intention of altering the perception of how the continent may be viewed and represented. This project explores and combines urbanization with mystical beauties and magical realism of the diversified cultural and traditional aesthetics and practices of the land, in harmony with nature as it adaptively responds to and moves alongside the age of information and technology.
The idea and concept was also to imagine what goes on behind the curtains of such utopic cities and the mechanisms that keep them alive and running, which gave birth to an exploration of the technical and mechanical aspects of urban structures and design, which in this narrative tend to visually lean towards a type of mechanical-engineered design infrastructures that run on green energy and technologic systems.
In order to come up with a mixture of modern and traditional, the design structures themselves are heavily influenced by geometrical arrangements combined with an evolved version of patterns and shapes turned into forms for more dynamism in order to express new forms of temporality.

One of the main goal of this project is to challenge the status-quo through visual narratives, thus elevating a sense of creativity and forward-looking perspectives into individuals by promoting avant-garde ideas leading to a society free from the bondages of oppression by showing that there are opportunities to thrive in our own African culture by having a better vision of the future. Yes, it is about new hopes, faith and about how art can change hearts and minds without breaking bodies, aspiring greatness.
