Sharon Clemons was a devoted wife, loving mother of four daughters—affectionately known as her “Butterflies”—and a gifted Master Stylist and award-winning entrepreneur. In 2005, she co-founded Sharon Joy Salon in New Haven with her sister, Joy, building a space rooted in excellence, mentorship, and community care.
Sharon dedicated her life to uplifting others, mentoring teens and justice-involved women, organizing annual holiday give-backs for single mothers, and serving families in need with compassion and grace. After her passing in 2020, the Sharon M. Clemons “Butterflies” Fund was created to honor her legacy, supporting scholarships for young African American women and continuing her lifelong commitment to education, empowerment, and beauty from the inside out.
