Todd Conaway came to UW | Bothell after ten years of working with faculty as an instructional designer at Yavapai Community College in Arizona. Prior to that, he taught high school English for ten years at a small private school where he was able to combine his passion for the outdoors and digital tools. He works to combine classroom learning and community learning with the digital landscape in ways that create meaningful experiences for students.
The 9x9x25 Challenge - What if professional development was a challenge? What if you were rewarded with the recognition of your colleagues—local and from across the planet—throughout the process? What if everything was free?
And what if you learned about critical digital literacy skills, and the best practices your colleagues offer their students along the way, and it all happened in a “class-like” environment on the open Web?
Well, that is just what faculty at Yavapai College, a small community college in central Arizona, did during the past nine weeks—17 faculty members rose to the occasion and 16 completed the challenge.
This "challenge" has ben replicated by several colleges over the yeears and provides a solid blueprint for similar challenges at your university. You can read about the challenge here on The League for Innovation in the Community College website and here on Faculty Focus.
