Dissertation topics for obtaining PhD and DrSc degrees
As soon as you get enrolled in a doctoral program in your interest research field, the first step is to formulate a suitable topic in which you research during the whole course. Contrary to popular belief, it's hard to decide upon a single research topic and be committed to for 3 or 4 years. Why is it difficult? – this is difficult due to doctoral students often lose interest in the topic being it either too difficult or too ordinary that nothing significant can be made out of the literature review present on it or they do not have access to the reliable sources of information and data.
Choosing a relevant dissertation topic means taking the first step towards obtaining the highest academic degree. Yes, indeed, the right choice of the dissertation title is important, but is quite obvious that the correct choice of topic is not yet a guarantee of the success of the dissertation, but this is an important stage that determines the further stages of work.
How to choose a dissertation topic? To accurately answer this question, should understand that:
firstly, the dissertation has to be relevant,
secondly, the dissertation has to have scientific significance,
thirdly, the dissertation has to have practical applications,
fourthly, the dissertation has to correspond to a certain structure.
So, summing up the above, it can be argued that when choosing a topic, one should take into account its relevance and the novelty of the formulation of a scientific problem: the relevance of the topic is determined in this case by two parameters – the need for its study by science and its applicability in practice.
So, a natural question arises: where to seek help then?
The dissertation topics I have proposed are in some way to help doctoral students who want to write a dissertation by my scientific leadership (or co-leadership) both in the field of applied mathematics and in engineering, computer science, economics, or pedagogy, actively using the apparatus of mathematics.
I hope and believe that the dissertation topics I have proposed will simplify your struggle of choosing a dissertation topic for research.
In Russia and in many neogenic countries of the former USSR as well as in some other former Communist Bloc countries, the status of DrSc is considered a post-doctoral degree and carried much more weight than PhD degree. However, in the United States and most countries of the world, DrSc degree is not higher than PhD degree as is the case in some European countries especially in Russia as well as in many neogenic countries of the former USSR. As regards Latvia and the other two Baltic countries – Lithuania and Estonia, in these countries PhD and DrSc degrees have long been considered equivalent.
