We are excited to welcome Kirsty Cavallo to the group as a Research Assistant for the next two months. Kirsty joins us as part of an Enterprise Ireland-funded project, where she will be contributing to the development of on-demand electrochemical sensors.
We are pleased to welcome Aoibheann Ní Chosgair to the group for an 8-week summer placement, sponsored by the Analytical Chemistry Trust Fund (ACTF). During her time with us, Aoibheann will be working on a project focused on the application of selenium nanoparticles in pharmaceutical analysis.
Mohamed Sharafeldin has been awarded the 2024 CAMS Fellowship in support of his research on the development of portable electrochemical sensors for diagnostic applications. This prestigious award will enable the advancement of innovative, low-cost technologies aimed at improving early disease detection and healthcare accessibility.
The project is funded by a University of Otago Research Grant to develop an electrochemical tool capable of detecting melanoma using low volume blood samples.
Dr Mohamed Sharafeldin received a funding grant to develop novel device for breast cancer diagnosis in collaboration with Prof. Jason J. Davis at University of Oxford.
The device employs electrochemical immunoassay to selectively recruit and quantify biomarkers specific to breast cancer from blood samples
