I am an economist and Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland. My research uses data to support policymaking, particularly in complex settings shaped by data constraints and multiple stakeholders. I draw on different methodologies, engage carefully with different perspectives and work across disciplines.
I regularly collaborate with policy institutions such as the European Central Bank (ECB) and the UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS). I am also a Research Associate with the ONS supported Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence and hold a government advisory role with the UK's Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
One strand of research involves applying (Bayesian) macroeconometric techniques to analyse cross-country spillovers, macro-financial risks and uncertainty. I am particularly interested in context-sensitive modelling approaches which are able to enhance our understanding of developing and emerging economies. My work bridges research and policymaking and has featured in the IMF Economic Review, Journal of International Money & Finance and the ECB Working Paper Series.
A second strand of my research focuses on economic measurement and statistics. I lead cross-disciplinary teams, using case studies, interviews and systems thinking to strengthen collaboration and resilience across the UK's multi-stakeholder statistical system. My research has been published in Regional Studies and contributed to the development of the UK's interregional trade statistics and a comparability framework tool, further developed by the UK's statistics regulator to support UK-wide data comparability.
