Spotify gives me this error message in the subject line *only when I plug in headphones*: "Spotify can't play this right now. If you have the file on your computer you can import it." When I use a USB headset I have no problem, and when I play songs through the laptop's speakers (which I never do) I have no problem. Setting the sound preference to "headphones" appears to cause the issue.

Thank you so much for answering. I also can't play Spotify on my laptop using headphones and I want to know why I can't use it. I am so happy I have found my answer over here. I want to buy laptops for studying and I have found so many ideas on this page. But I am confused about which one should I buy. Can you guys please help me in searching for the best laptops online?

I'm having this issue as well. All of my settings are as they should be, check what people have suggested on previous posts. Still nothing. It used to work if I started listening on my phone, then swapped to my laptop, but it won't let me do that anymore

and then unplug the laptop... wait until it screams. I could systemctl status checkpower to see the echos and errors. 'q' out of the status and go back in to update. There is probably a better way to do that.

How to run 1080 video on laptop that can only play smoothly 720p video because of its poor hardware? Can I download some special codecs or lower details in some way, or do I need to change its format ? If yes, this will take minutes or hours?

Laptop uses Windows XP, I play the videos locally and I can use any program to watch. The laptop isn't mine so I don't remember the exact config. But processor is between 1 and 2 GHz and about 1 GB RAM. I don't know anything about graphic cards - but I guess it does exist - it can play 720p smoothly.

Looking at your specs, the 1 GB of RAM and processor is a red light. You'll def need more than that to play high def video. I have 4 GB with core 2 duo 2.2Ghz and even then sometimes playback is skipped (very rare though).

Playing a 1080p video can be played at lower resolutions i.e. 720 or even 480. The issue is whether the computer it self can handle the playback. My guess, is that the laptop's video card isn't capable of playing the HD video smoothly as well, but that's hard to tell due to the lower specs of the processor and memory.

I've personally found that CoreAVC has the best decoding capability I've seen. Uses far less CPU than any other h.264 (which I'm assuming you're playing) decoder around. Only problem is that it's pay (but only $10).

Sony catalyst browser is free and will also play (and allows minor editing). I am not sure, but it might require a sony camera serial number to play hevc. If you don't have access to a Sony camera (friend, neighbor, etc..), pm me.

In camera everything looks fine, but when i go to transfer it to the laptop, anything 4:2:2 10 bit won't play with Media Player, will come out juttery in VLC, and in Davinci only show up as audio without video.

The Aura Carver 10.1" HD Digital Frame is a great way to put your portfolio on display and a great way to surface forgotten memories. The colors are vibrant, and the build quality is solid, but the Carver isn't without a few quirks.

My laptop is playing up somehow. It won't let me watch any videos or movies on the internet or on my media player. All it does is go 'GREEN SCREEN' but the sound affects works. I tried 'right-clicking' then pressed 'settings' but i cant seem to find the box to un-tick the box next to ''Enable Hardware Acceleration' !

I'm a new user and I currently play SL using an HP. I'm not sure about its specs but let's just say my current laptop was not made for gaming at all. I've been on the market for a gaming laptop that meets my needs but I don't know anything about computers. I'd like my next laptop to be able to run SL from High-Ultra settings without little to no lag at all. Ultimately, I want to be able to actually play and enjoy secondlife with good graphics to go with it. My budget is under $1,000USD because I'm not really a gamer. I only play secondlife and Sims 4 so I don't want anything too crazy. Below I have listed the laptop that I've been considering most, I'd appreciate it if someone would let me know whether or not it's a good pick. I'm also open to any suggestions that anyone may have for gaming laptops

Because i bought a win7 install CD which came with a driver pack CD for my ancient spare laptop I figured i'd give the driver pack a chance before going through the whole windows update process - it found nvidia and installed drivers - something i always assumed windows would do .

The OP asking for laptop not desktop stop giving lame advices. RTX 3080 or 3090 is over 5K costs don't even bother. Just get a GTX 1650 to RTX 3060 those are around your budget and you can add additional 8gb ram on if came with only 8gb RAM. Dual channels RAM makes second life faster too. Make sure you use lasted firestorm viewer it the best performance viewer right now.

However texture memory does play a role in the speed of loads, shadows, as well as the cache allocated and pre-stored. and as I stated, if you read it correctly before replying "but having a RTX 3090TI over a RTX 2080 won't offer a difference due to the old OPENGL used. " but the CPU will. a newer GPU can however handle certain aspects better, but its not so much the person system as it is the ISSUE WITH THE VIEWERS, and the OPENGL used. SL could run much better if aspects were revamped again (which is in the plans but will take time).

dude. You come off like a cocky 8 year old. the K person stated that higher gpu's will not help. He was correct in what he stated as far as how the current viewers work. most systems including laptops today are dual channel, however there is a limit to the viewers capabilities in the current state. Frame rate wise, CPU is the heavy need, especially single thread maximums. A gpu needs to be decent for textures and subsets, but higher end 3000 series won't make a difference for Firestorm, the standard viewer or any other third party.

Memory speed of systems in the last 5 or so years are plenty. When it comes to loading assets when entering a new sim, connection speed comes into play, when loading pre-cached , drive speed comes into play. Most system a person will by today will ahve SSD's.

It's like if you took a photo on a 21 megapixel DLSR sensor and then displayed in on a 1080p monitor. The resolution is simply reduced to fit the display. You aren't actually looking at 4K resolution, you're looking at a 4K video downscaled to 1920x1080.

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

It gets downscaled to 1080P on your display. So while you might not be able to see the extra details 4K provides, you'll get a much crisper image and the noise in the original 4K file almost disappears.
