關於實驗室主持人

我的研究興趣是探討微生物在環境中的變動以及微生物所扮演的角色。珊瑚礁生態系的微生物是我的研究對象，想知道各種環境變化會對這些微生物族群組成與功能有什麼的影響。除了透過總基因體學一探究竟那些尚無法培養的微生物們，也想藉由基因體的資訊來改良微生物分離與培養的技術，得到更多樣的微生物資源。

珊瑚礁生態系提供了人類重要的漁業資源，健康的珊瑚是維持珊瑚礁生態系功能的基礎，希望能透過微生物，在珊瑚復育上有更多的瞭解與幫助。

About the PI

As an environmental microbiologist, I am particular interested in microbial roles in biogeochemical cycle and host-associated microbiomes in coral reefs. Being well versed in traditional culture-based and culture-independent methods for studying environmental microorganisms, I would like to combine both culture-based and culture-independent methods to better understand the microbial interplay with help of following topics: 1) microbial population dynamics and ecosystem functions; 2) how microbial populations and communities function as model systems. In addition, microbial cultivation has been neglected in recent decades and current knowledge is limited to insights of metagenomic surveys. To confirm the physiology of microbes and their role in ecology, I will also focus on 3) microbial cultivation and bioresource collection and application of the microbial cultures, such as marine probiotics and bacterial degradation of pollutants.
