Shang Gao, Ph.D., born in Nagoya, Japan, is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He is affiliated with the Wellman Center for Photomedicine and the Cardiovascular Research Center. He earned his Ph.D. in Robotics Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), USA, in 2024, and his M.S. in Robotics Engineering from WPI in 2020. In 2018, he graduated with honors, receiving dual B.Eng. degrees in Robotics & Mechatronic Systems Engineering from the University of Detroit Mercy, USA, and Mechanical Engineering from Beijing University of Chemical Technology, China. His research focuses on medical imaging, particularly ultrasound and photoacoustic imaging, image-guided interventions, and medical robotics. He was awarded the Robert F. Wagner All-Conference Best Student Paper Award at SPIE Medical Imaging 2023.
