The project objective aims to build an acoustic-resolution photoacoustic microscopy based on a compact and low-cost delta configuration actuator. The effect of the data acquisition positioning inaccuracy on the image quality degradation is studied. Advanced 3D synthetic aperture focusing methods were used to mitigate the image quality degradation caused by actuation uncertainty. The developed platform provides the targeted resolution of 0.3 mm with reduced cost to democratize preclinical research using ex-vivo tissue samples and small animals.
