The University of Pittsburgh's campus is one that I encountered at a young age. My father attended Pitt before dropping out due to financial struggles just nine credits short of a degree. Pittsburgh is the closest major city to my hometown of Oil City, Pennsylvania, so my family often traveled to Allegheny County to experience its vast opportunities. As a result of my parents' hard work, I was blessed to have the opportunity to play softball in the outskirts of the city for four years throughout middle school. My time spent near Pittsburgh was a formative period of my life that I will forever be thankful for, so I knew that I wanted to start the next chapter of my life in the area. The expansive network of healthcare systems in Pittsburgh will allow me to gain valuable clinical experience and have innumerable opportunities for employment following graduation. Pitt's nationally ranked nursing program will give me a phenomenal education and prepare me for the next season of life, all while getting the opportunity to finish college at a university where my father was unable.
