The world of embedded systems and IoT captivated me early in my career, driving me to explore how technology can solve real-world problems. My journey began with hands-on learning, and over time, I’ve honed my skills across diverse roles, working on cutting-edge projects that bridge hardware and software.
Trainee Engineer at ADN Telecom Ltd
(November 2022 – March 2023)
My journey into the world of IoT and embedded systems began at ADN Telecom, where I gained hands-on experience with the fundamentals of Internet Communication Protocols and Data Centers. During this time, I became proficient in practical communication protocols such as TCP/IP, SNMP, SMTP, and MQTT—skills that have since become the backbone of my career.
One of the key highlights of this role was my contribution to an Environment Monitoring System (EMS) designed for Data Centers. This system monitored critical environmental parameters in real-time and featured an advanced alert system utilizing protocols like HTTPS, SMTP, SNMP, and MQTT. Working on this project emphasized the importance of maintaining optimal conditions in highly temperature-sensitive environments like Data Centers.
Inspired by this experience, I developed my own EMS project and had the privilege of presenting my research at the ICCST 2022 conference. This project not only deepened my technical expertise but also ignited a passion for leveraging data-driven insights to create smarter, interconnected systems for efficient operations.
When I joined THT-Space Electrical Company Ltd, I knew I was stepping into a unique and challenging environment. The company specialized in bulk manufacturing of thermal printers, and I was tasked with designing and testing firmware for these products. It was an exciting yet daunting opportunity to work in a factory setting where speed and precision were paramount.
My supervisor, Mr. Yang, the dynamic and driven General Manager, became a source of inspiration for me. His unwavering focus on solving problems—no matter how complex—taught me the value of persistence and meticulous effort. Observing his work ethic pushed me to embrace every challenge with renewed determination.
One of the biggest hurdles I faced was the language and cultural barrier while working with a team of Chinese engineers. Initially, communication was a struggle, but I saw it as an opportunity to grow. With patience, hard work, and a willingness to adapt, I overcame this barrier and formed strong professional relationships. This experience not only enhanced my technical skills but also deepened my understanding of cross-cultural collaboration.
In the factory, my responsibilities included writing firmware for thermal printers and ensuring their reliability through rigorous testing—a critical step in bulk production. The most rewarding moment came when I successfully developed and deployed firmware for the company’s Thermal IP Printer (Wi-Fi). Seeing the printers perform flawlessly in real-world conditions after countless hours of development and testing was an immensely satisfying achievement.
My time at THT-Space was a period of intense learning and growth. It taught me how to handle high-pressure environments, deliver solutions at scale, and collaborate effectively across cultures. It wasn’t just a job—it was an experience that shaped my approach to challenges and set the foundation for future success.
Embedded Systems Engineer at Spectrum Engineering Consortium(Pvt) Ltd
(January 2024 - Present)
Joining Spectrum Engineering Consortium Ltd was a pivotal moment in my career. This role allowed me to step into the cutting-edge field of robotics and embedded systems, working on projects that required a seamless integration of hardware and software. It was here that I began contributing to the development of advanced technologies for real-world applications, particularly in EOD robots and ROV systems.
One of my primary responsibilities was developing firmware for ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles), specializing in systems that required TCP/IP communication protocols for remote operations. This work challenged me to think beyond standard practices and design solutions that were not only robust but also highly efficient. The thrill of seeing an ROV navigate with precision, powered by firmware I developed, was unmatched.
Working with GPS, LRF (Laser Range Finder), and a variety of sensors pushed my technical boundaries. These systems required accurate data processing to ensure smooth navigation and real-time responsiveness. I also collaborated closely with hardware engineers, integrating components seamlessly through protocols like UART and socket communication. These collaborations taught me the importance of teamwork in bringing complex projects to life.
What made my time at Spectrum truly unique was the exposure to military-grade technology. The systems we designed were held to the highest standards of reliability and performance, and knowing that our work contributed to critical missions added a sense of purpose to every task.
Through this role, I not only deepened my expertise in C/C++ and Python but also gained insights into how embedded systems could transform industries. My journey at Spectrum has been a testament to the power of perseverance, collaboration, and innovation. It reinforced my passion for using technology to create solutions that make a tangible difference.
