This project involves the design and construction of a weight scale with a rotary mechanical display output. The weighing station should have a scale range of 0–1 kg with a resolution of at least 10 gr. The mechanism utilizes an electric motor for driving the output display, with the display pointer having accurate positioning through a feedback control mechanism. A motor driver is added to regulate the voltage and the supply motor current, with a gear ratio of 1:2304 being used for the control of the speed and position of the motor accurately. Data acquisition as well as control signals are provided through the NI USB-6001 multifunction DAQ system and a load cell sensor processed by LabView VI. The load cell senses the object's weight by converting mechanical forces into electrical signals. The general objectives of this project are to ensure calibration, design functionality, feedback control, elimination of noise, and performance of the system.
