Welcome to my webpage. I am Ashfaq Ali Shafin, a Computer Science Ph.D. Candidate at Florida International University (FIU), advised by Dr. Bogdan Carbunar in the CaSPR LAB.
My research lies at the intersection of Cyber Security, Social Computing, and Misinformation. I specialize in detecting and attributing influence operations (IOs) and analyzing toxicity in social media ecosystems. My work has been published in top-tier venues, including USENIX Security, The Web Conference (WWW), ACM Hypertext, ASONAM, and USEC.
Prior to my doctoral studies, I served as a Lecturer at Stamford University Bangladesh for over two years. At FIU, I advanced from a Teaching Assistant role (2021) to a Research Assistant position (2022–2025). Currently, I am a recipient of the University Graduate School (UGS) Dissertation Fellowship, a competitive award recognizing research excellence.
