About

Mauja, also known as Michael, has well over two decades of immersion in electronic music and audio engineering. Since cutting his teeth on vinyl as a DJ in 2001, his passion for music has only grown continuously, matched by his curiosity for the unconventional and a need to stay abreast of the latest developments in the industry.

As a Senior Lecturer teaching at SAE Institute Perth, Mauja has spent over a decade shaping the next generation of audio engineers and music producers. Formerly in the role of Label Partner and Mastering Engineer for After Dark Music over a number of years, Mauja has a wealth of experience in overseeing the contractual, mastering, distribution, promotion and royalties processes, essentially taking a release from conception to completion. 

Drawing inspiration from science fiction, street art, and rare vinyl finds that fuel his creative fire, Mauja’s own work is defined by moody, intricate soundscapes, syncopation and groove, and a drive to push creative boundaries in the sound design process.
