Grades K-5 (see example attached below)
Use the following guidelines when creating your SGO for the 2014-2015 school year.
Confer with your administrator or supervisor to be sure that you are choosing an appropriate SGO for your assignment (math, reading, or writing).
Look at the assessments that you already have in place. If they are appropriate and aligned to the CCSS, they should be used for SGO purposes. If not, consider revising or creating a new assessment. Students should not undergo extra testing for the purpose of SGO data collection.
Goals should be ambitious, yet achievable and measurable. Goals should show that students have not only made progress, but show a level of mastery.
Be sure to frequently monitor student progress toward the goal you have set so that changes in instruction or pacing can be made as necessary.
According to the NJDOE Quality Rating Rubric, a high quality SGO provides students with more than one chance to meet the goal.
Use the critical reading section on the Fountas and Pinnell benchmark
Use a four point rubric with any skill of choice (summarizing, synthesizing, etc.)
An increase in readers response to R.A.C.E questions in readers notebooks
Number of minutes students are able to write independently
An increase in fluency score using Fountas and Pinnell fluency measurement
