Temporal response function (TRF) ∈ finite impulse response (FIR) + ridge regression (RR)
A linearized encoding analysis is an efficient method to relate the non-linear transform of information to neural data (usually noisy and from a small number of subjects). A finite impulse response (FIR) model estimated using ridge regression (also known as temporal response function [TRF]) is one successful example. Explained in a MATLAB Live Script!

Ridge Regression
One of the widely used methods in encoding/decoding analysis. It's a just linear regression with regularization. Explained in a MATLAB Live Script!
