Getting to Astoria

We recommend that you fly into Portland International Airport (PDX) and either rent a car, or carpool, from PDX to Astoria. The drive is approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. There is no shuttle service between PDX and Astoria.

Where to Stay

The primary conference hotel is the Holiday Inn Express and Suites, Astoria. There are a limited number of per diem rate rooms ($110/night) available in our room block. The conference rate for river front rooms is $129/night. Please book directly with the hotel, 888-898-6222, and ask for rooms in the "Sea Grant Extension and Communicators" block.

There are two additional hotels, both within close walking distance to the conference meeting rooms, to consider. The Best Western Astoria Bayfront Hotel, and the Astoria Riverwalk Inn. To access the conference rate ($110/night) at the Riverwalk Inn, use discount code "OSUSEA17" when booking.

Meeting Venues

The primary meeting location is The Loft at the Red Building, additional breakout sessions will occur at the Holiday Inn Express. The Holiday Inn Express is a 3-5 minute walk from The Loft. See the map below for more detail. For those of you in town on Tuesday evening, there will be a welcome reception at the Barbey Maritime Center with the members of the Sea Grant Academy. The Sea Grant Academy group will be based out of the Comfort Suites, on the eastern side of downtown Astoria.
