c19 power cords commonly work with devices that require higher current and work with data center rack-mounted power distribution units, chassis switches, and enterprise-class servers. In other words, these are used on the ends of high-current computer and networking device power cords.

What Are the Differences Between C13 and C19 Power Cords?

Talking about the differences between C13 and C19 power cords, here is what you need to know:

C13 power cords come in different lengths, from 6 to 25 feet, and have small plug diameters. The best part is that these are more vulnerable to damage when tripped or accidentally pulled. On the other hand, the C19 power cord has a length of 2.5 meters (9 feet).

C13 power cords are circular plug-in shapes, while C19 power cords are outlet sockets and are shaped rectangularly. However, it is very important to understand the sizes of these plugs, as they determine how they will or will not fit into any device or computer. 

In common, the size of a C13 power cord is 3 feet long in appliances that are large, such as freezers, air conditioners, refrigerators, and microwaves. These connect devices mainly to a generator or wall outlet. While the C19 power cord is 6.5 feet long and is designed to suit higher-temperature applications.

C13 power cords have 2 ends—the standard AC plug and 3 prongs—2 flats at the top and 1 round at the bottom, known as grounding pins or third pins—whereas the C19 power cord has a 15A round pin plug with a D-type socket.

Talking about voltage, C13 power cords have 10 amps at 250 volts. It works well with appliances that use 120 or 240 volts. These are compatible with standard IEC-320-C13 receptacles. On the other hand, c19 power cords have a maximum current rating of 16 amps at 16–18 AWG and 20 amps at 14–16 AWG. These can handle about 250 volts.
