Renaissance Star Assessments are computer-adaptive tests (CATs) for pre-K—12 students that measure reading, math, and early literacy skills.
CATs are computer adaptive tests that adjust based on students’ responses. If your student answers a question correctly, the next one is more difficult. If he or she answers incorrectly, the next is easier.
Teachers use the data from Star Assessments to answer essential questions he or she has about their student’s learning needs and to improve academic outcomes for all the students in the class.
Star Assessments can also be used to monitor intervention programs.Teachers may use it weekly to track how a student is responding to the chosen program.
Star results are used to:
Measuring general achievement in reading, math, or early literacy
Identifying what skills a student is ready to learn
Helping plan instructional support activities
Tracking progress toward academic targets
Estimating student proficiency on state tests
Estimating student mastery of standards
