Gypsy Rose's Pride
Foaled 1992
Buckskin Roan
(Pruitt's Golden Jewel x Lane's Gypsy Rose)
This pony was interesting to me because he has 3 crosses in his pedigree to Coed Coch Pansi through Bryntirion Rowan. Coed Coch Pansi was imported by Mrs. Iliff in 1948 and was her favorite mare. Rowan was foaled in Britain before Pansi was imported and he was imported into the Northwest of the US. Pride also has two crosses of Coed Coch Ebrill, Severn Oaks' first Welsh mare through her first foal in Wales, Coed Coch Eurliw Goch. Eurliw Goch was sired by Bowdler Brightlight, making her a full sister to Severn Storm, one of Severn Oaks' most influential herd sires and sire of Severn West Wind.
Pride was put right to work when he arrived at Severn Oaks from Oregon in 2014 and has sired several prize-winning foals. He had two foals in his first crop here in 2015. His last two foals were foaled in 2022. He is 32 now in 2024 and is retired from breeding to live a quiet life in the field.
By 2024, ten years after his arrival at Severn Oaks, Pride's offspring earned him enough points for his WPCSA Sire Legion of Merit. The five ponies that contributed to this award are the five fillies, Severn Filigree (2015), Copper Beech Marigold (2016), Severn Sweet Charlotte (2017), Severn Aurora (2021), and Severn Chloe (2022).
