Severn Oaks Farm
Located near the Severn river, north of Annapolis, Maryland, Severn Oaks Farm was founded by Dr. Elizabeth Iliff in 1947 with the purchase of a Section A Welsh mare, *Coed Coch Ebrill (Revolt x Coed Coch Eirlys), one of the few available for sale in this country at that time. In 1948, Miss Brodrick of the Coed Coch stud in Wales gathered 9 mares for Dr. Iliff for importation to Maryland. Several of these mares (*Coed Coch Pansi, *Coed Coch Serog, *Coed Coch Morfa, and *Criban Waaf), with Ebrill, became the foundation breeding herd for Severn Oaks.
Today, the Severn stud continues to breed quality Section A Welsh Ponies under the management of Dr. Iliff's daughter, Tiz Benedict. There are usually about 25 ponies on the farm with 2-7 foals born annually.
Visitors are always welcome.
