Dr. Lee has been selected as a recipient of new research funding from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRFK). The title of the project is "Development of an Adaptive XAI Safety Model for Predicting and Responding to Sudden and Unstable Driving Behaviors in Users with Cognitive and Sensory Diversity." This project will be collaboratively conducted with Dr. Jeongeun Park. It will be a collaborative research effort between the Human Factors and AI disciplines.
This is the last working week for Dr. Vasantha Kumar and Dr. Aziz Hasanov. Thank you so much for your contributions to the lab, and we wish you a bright future wherever you choose to be.
Dr. Lee visited National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan thanks to a warm and kind invitation by Dr. Hsueh-Yi Lai. Dr. Lee gave two seminar presentations (1. Human-AV Interaction, 2. How to Start International Collaborative Research) and had a good time discussing future collaborations with Taiwanese researchers. Dr. Lee and Dr. Lai will collaborate on research related to Human Factors issues in automated driving contexts.

Dr. Lee has been selected as a recipient of new research funding from Hanyang University. The project title is "Investigation of Automated Vehicle's Driver Behaviors in Mixed Traffic Conditions." This funding will mainly support a postdoctoral researcher's research activities. Dr. Duc Trung Luu will be supported by this funding and will lead the project. Hope to achieve meaningful results!
As of March 1, 2025, Dr. Lee has been promoted to Associate Professor. Recognized for outstanding research achievements, he has received an early promotion one year ahead of schedule. Look forward to more achievements from the lab in the future.

One is "Comparative Analysis of Teleportation and Joystick Locomotion in Virtual Reality Navigation in Different Postures: A Comprehensive Examination of Mental Workload", led by Reza and will be published in International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction.
The other is "Development and Validation of e-Scooter Riding Behavior Questionnaire (ERBQ) based on Error, Violation, and Behaviors", led by Tiju and will be published in Ergonomics.
We had an online meeting with Dr. Hsueh-Yi Lai at National Chiao Tung University. He presented his research interests and collaboration plan with us. We'll actively seek to collaborate on automated driving-related research.
On a perfect-weather day, we had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Andreas Reainer from Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt. We discussed a research topic, and he gave a talk about his group’s work on automated driving research and its methods. It was wonderful to have him with us today!

The title of the project is "Building Driving Simulator and Physiological Data Acquisition Systems for Human Factors Research in Automated Driving Contexts." The project supports funding to outstanding young researchers to build research facilities and equipment.
Dr. Lee (Co-PI), in collaboration with Dr. Jieun Lee (PI), has been selected as a new recipient of new research funding from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRFK). The title of the project is "Development of Design Guideline for External Human-Machine Interfaces of Automated Vehicles based on Pedestrian Trust Formation Model." The project will be supported for 3 years (2024.04.01 ~ 2027.03.31).

Dr. Lee has been selected as a recipient of new research funding from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRFK). The title of the project is "Development of Deep Learning Model to Evaluate Cognitive Status based on EEG data with Wavelet Transform Techniques." This funding will support hosting outstanding international researchers. Dr. Neelakandan Subramani joined the HCT lab last year with this funding program, and we were able to get support for 1.5 years more (2024.09.01 ~ 2026.02.28).
Dr. Lee (Co-PI), in collaboration with Dr. Sangwon Lee (PI), Dr. Yong Gu Ji, Dr. YoungJae Yu, and Dr. Min Chul Cha, has been selected as a recipient of new research funding from the Korea Creative Content Agency. The project title is "Development of multimodal UX evaluation platform technology for XR spatial responsive content optimization" and it will be supported for three years (2024.04.01 ~ 2026.12.31).
A paper titled "Pairing appropriate in-vehicle intelligent assistants (IVIAs) with different levels of automation: Implications on driver performance, evaluation, and trust towards an automated vehicle system" has been accepted and will be published in the Human-Computer Interaction. This paper has a special meaning. Dr. Lee suggested this topic in 2019 at Virginia Tech, and Manhua followed up after 2020. Thanks for leading this project, Manhua and Dr.Jeon's guidance.
Chaeheon has been selected as a PI of new research funding from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRFK). The project title is "The Effects of Superimposed Information on Motion Sickness in eXtended Reality Contexts." This funding will support his research activities for 1 year (2024.07.01 ~ 2025.06.30).

Dr. Lee has been selected as a recipient for a new research funding from National Research Foundation of Korea (NRFK). The title of the project is "Evaluation and advancement of a baby-crying monitoring application based on UX scenarios". The project will be supported for six months.

Yonsei University has been selected as a host for the AutomotiveUI 2021 (September 26-29, 2021), which is the premium forum for user interface research in the automotive domain. Dr. Ji and Dr. Jeon will be be General Co-Chairs. Seulchan will provide services as a Program Co-Chairs.

"Why did not this Voice User Interface Understand me?”: Error Recovery Strategy for In-vehicle Voice User Interface" has been selected for the WIP honorable mention award at the 11th international Conference on Automotive User Interfaces and Interactive Vehicular Applications (Automotive' UI 19) held in Utrecht, Netherlands.
Dr. Lee and international collaborators successfully hosted the workshop on "Localization vs. Internationalization: Research and Practice on Autonomous Vehicles across Different Cultures" with more than 30 participants from all over the world at AutomotiveUI 2019 Conference.
