A paper titled "Development and Validation of Automated Driving Behavior Questionnaire (ADBQ)" has been accepted and will be published in the Transportation Research Part F: Psychology and Behaviour. This is a result of the collaboration with our research collaborators in Korea and Japan. In the lab, Tiju led this work. Congrats and thanks for all the efforts!!

Dr. Lee has been selected as a recipient of new research funding from the Korea Basic Science Institute. The title of the project is "Building Driving Simulator and Physiological Data Acquisition Systems for Human Factors Research in Automated Driving Contexts." The project supports funding to outstanding young researchers to build research facilities and equipment. 

Dr. Lee (Co-PI), in collaboration with Dr. Jieun Lee (PI), has been selected as a new recipient of new research funding from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRFK). The title of the project is "Development of Design Guideline for External Human-Machine Interfaces of Automated Vehicles based on Pedestrian Trust Formation Model." The project will be supported for 3 years (2024.04.01 ~  2027.03.31).

A paper titled "An Ergonomic Risk Evaluation using Deep Learning in a VR-based Smart Manufacturing Context" has been accepted and will be published in the Ergonomics. This work is led by HCT Lab members, especially Suman. Congrats and thanks for all the efforts!!

Dr. Lee has been selected as a recipient of new research funding from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRFK). The title of the project is "Development of Deep Learning Model to Evaluate Cognitive Status based on EEG data with Wavelet Transform Techniques." This funding will support hosting outstanding international researchers. Dr. Neelakandan Subramani joined the HCT lab last year with this funding program, and we were able to get support for 1.5 years more (2024.09.01 ~ 2026.02.28).

Dr. Lee (Co-PI), in collaboration with Dr. Sangwon Lee (PI), Dr. Yong Gu Ji, Dr. YoungJae Yu, and Dr. Min Chul Cha, has been selected as a recipient of new research funding from the Korea Creative Content Agency. The project title is "Development of multimodal UX evaluation platform technology for XR spatial responsive content optimization" and it will be supported for three years (2024.04.01 ~ 2026.12.31).

A paper titled "Pairing appropriate in-vehicle intelligent assistants (IVIAs) with different levels of automation: Implications on driver performance, evaluation, and trust towards an automated vehicle system" has been accepted and will be published in the Human-Computer Interaction. This paper has a special meaning. Dr. Lee suggested this topic in 2019 at Virginia Tech, and Manhua followed up after 2020. Thanks for leading this project, Manhua and Dr.Jeon's guidance.

Chaeheon has been selected as a PI of new research funding from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRFK). The project title is "The Effects of Superimposed Information on Motion Sickness in eXtended Reality Contexts." This funding will support his research activities for 1 year (2024.07.01 ~ 2025.06.30). 

A paper titled "Effects of Trust and Customer Value on the Acceptance of Urban Air Mobility as Public Transportation" has been accepted and will be published in the Travel Behaviour & Society. HCT Lab members, especially Ratawut, led this work. Congrats and thanks for all the efforts!!

The HCT lab has relocated to Hanyang University ERICA. We hope to achieve another milestone in our new home.

A paper entitled "How Do User Regulate Interaction Behaviors while Performing a Drag-and-Drop Task in a Virtual Reality Environment?" has been accepted and will be published in the International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction.

It has been a year since Dr. Rattawut Vongvit returned to his home country and reclaimed his original position. Yet, we continue to maintain a strong relationship, both professionally and personally!! He gave a presentation to GNU university faculties in Bangkok, and Sehyeon visited there to meet him during her vacation 😀 

Dr. Lee has been appointed as a member of the AutoUI Steering Committee, operating the International ACM AutoUI conference.

Dr. Lee has been selected as a recipient of new research funding from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRFK). The title of the project is "Development and Evaluation of XR User Interface for Human-Robot Collaboration based Manufacturing Environment." This funding will support hosting outstanding international researchers. Dr. Arunachalam Muthiah will join the lab as a research professor for 1 year through this funding (2023.12.31 ~ 2024.12.31).

This work is led solely by HCT Lab members, especially Naveen. Congrats and thanks for all the efforts!!

Chaeheon is visiting the University of Calgary. He will spend six months at the institution conducting collaborative research on VR topics under the supervision of Dr. Kangsoo Kim.

A special issue "HCI for Future Mobility" edited by Dr. Lee has been published in the International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction. 

Dr. Lee has been selected as a recipient of extra funding for the project "Development of Visual Complexity Model of XR Interface and Its Application" from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRFK). This funding will support to build research environment and equipment for early-career researchers.

Dr. Lee has been selected as a recipient of new research funding from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRFK). The title of the project is "Developing a Modified Deep Belief Network with Metaheuristic Optimization Algorithm for Predicting Face Emotion and Sentimental Analysis using Electroencephalogram." This funding will support hosting outstanding international researchers. Associate Professor Dr. Neelakandan Subramani will join the lab as a Research Professor for 1 year through this funding (2023.09 ~ 2024.08).

Dr. Lee has been selected as a recipient of new research funding from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRFK). The title of the project is "Effects of 2D and 3D Virtual Human on User Experience in XR Environments". This funding will support international collaborative research with Dr. Kangsoo Kim at University of Calgary. Chaeheon will visit University of Calgary for the collaboration.

Dr. Lee has been selected as a recipient of new research funding from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRFK). The title of the project is "Adaptive Driving Style and Policy for Better User Experience in Automated Driving". This funding will support international collaborative research with Dr. Philipp Wintersberger at TU Wien for 2 years (2022.10~2224.09).

A paper entitled "Slow down. Rail crossing ahead. Look left and right at the crossing: In-Vehicle Auditory Alerts Improve Driver Behavior" has been accepted and will be published in Applied Ergonomics.

AutomotiveUI'22 was successfully held in Seoul, Korea (https://www.auto-ui.org/22/). 

• Dr. Lee served as technical program chair and helped out the whole process of the conference.

• The HCT Lab presented one full paper, two WIP posters, and one video presentation.

• The HCT Lab co-organized two workshops:

  • Build Your Own Genie and Jarvis: 2nd Workshop on Characteristics and Design Considerations of In-Vehicle Intelligent Agents. 

  • A Workshop on Driving Style of Automated Vehicles in Ambiguous Driving Scenarios

Dr. Lee has been selected as a recipient of new research funding from Gyeongsang National University (GNU). The title of the project is "Social Acceptance and User Experience of Urban Air Mobility." The funding program supports early-stage researchers at GNU for 1 year (2022.08 ~ 2023.08).

Dr. Lee has been selected as a recipient of new research funding from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRFK). The title of the project is "Development of an Ergonomic Assessment Tool for Musculoskeletal Symptoms in VR/AR Environment". This funding will support hosting outstanding international researchers. Assistant Professor Dr. Reza Kazemi at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences will join the lab as a Research Professor for 1 year through this funding (2022.10 ~ 2023.09).

One full-paper, two workshops, two WIPs, and one video submissions have been accepted at the 14th international Conference on Automotive User Interfaces and Interactive Vehicular Applications (Automotive' UI 22).

A paper entitled "A Systematic Literature Review on Machine Learning Techniques for Human Status Detection" has been accepted and will be published in IEEE Access. Special thanks to Dr. Suman Kalyan Sardar for all his efforts and congrats!!

A paper entitled "A Systematic Review of Functions and Design Features of In-Vehicle Agents" has been accepted and will be published in the International Journal of Human-Computer Studies.

Dr. Lee has been selected as a recipient of new research funding from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRFK). The title of the project is "Developing and Validating a Trust-Building Model in Automated Vehicles". This funding will support international collaborative research with Dr. Makoto Itoh at University of Tsukuba for 2 years (2022.04~2224.03).

Dr. Lee has received the 2nd year funding from Gyeongsangnam-do on the project, "Evaluating and Monitoring Human Operator's status for Human-Centered Smart Factory".

A paper entitled "Human-Machine Interface in Smart Factory: A Systematic Literature Review" is accepted and will be published in Technological Forecasting & Social Change. This is the first publication led by only HCT Lab members, especially Dr. Kumar. Congrats and Thanks for all efforts!!

Dr. Lee has been selected as a recipient of new research funding from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRFK). The title of the project is "Development of an Algorithm for Evaluating and Classifying User Status in VR Environments". This project will fully support the research activities of Dr. Gokulnath Babu as a postdoc.

A paper entitled "Effects of Auditory Display Types and Acoustic Variables on Subjective Driver Assessment in a Rail-Crossing Context" is accepted and will be published in Transportation Research Record

1. Dr. Lee has been selected as a recipient for a new research funding from Gyengsangnam-do. The title of the project is "Evaluating and Monitoring Human Operator's status for Human-Centered Smart Factory". This funding is for supporting an early career faculty member to build lab facilities.

2. Dr. Lee has been selected as a recipient for a new research funding from Gyengsangnam-do. The title of the project is "Effects of Augmented Reality Technology on Assembling Tasks". The project will be supported for four months.

3. One paper entitled "Modeling Takeover Time Based on Non-Driving Related Task Attributes in Highly Automated Driving" has accepted and will be published in Applied Ergonomics.

Yonsei University has been selected as a host for the AutomotiveUI 2021 (September 26-29, 2021), which is the premium forum for user interface research in the automotive domain. Dr. Ji and Dr. Jeon will be be General Co-Chairs. Seulchan will provide services as a Program Co-Chairs.

Dr. Lee will join the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Gyeongsang National University as an assistant professor. The position will start in March 2020

"Why did not this Voice User Interface Understand me?”: Error Recovery Strategy for In-vehicle Voice User Interface" has been selected for  the WIP honorable mention award at the 11th international Conference on Automotive User Interfaces and Interactive Vehicular Applications (Automotive' UI 19) held in Utrecht, Netherlands.
