this piece is the manifestation of my journey as an artist and spiritual being. it started with a base of spray paint, on the left side a mother figure, on the right the father, and connecting them the void, a spiral road. after the base painting i collaged images from various magazines and books that reflected different phases/ feelings of the "journey". the images were places on the spiral road, the life path. the mother figure embodies the creative potential and power of the womb, the father figure resembles overgrown trees and nature, embodying more shadow aspects. they are yin and yang, life and death, creation and destruction. between them a skull representing the human nature as well as how life and death connect us all. the themes of this piece include, surrendering to the journey and following your destined path, the range of human emotions and how experiencing them all makes us whole, the parallels and connection between the divine feminine "mother" and the divine masculine "father". at the center of the piece is a knight, standing at what seems like the beginning of the journey, symbolizing how we are always beginning again throughout our lives.
