4) Treasurer’s Report- Christina Lauver-
a. Balance: $70,420.99
b. Fundraised this year: $51,771.04
c. Table at 5th Grade musical was beneficial
d. Table at conferences was beneficial- not because of more donations, but because of raised visibility
e. PTA memberships can be improved
f. Concern that a coin wars event would be too much of a lift at this point in time for teachers. Let’s keep considering for next year.
5) Updated Venmo/ New Zelle Transfers
a. Venmo is fixed- New venmo account and QR Code username: @Superior_PTA1
b. Zelle donations are now available: name: superiorpta
6) Community Impact Committee Report- Karen Brady/ Megan Zielinski
a. Black History Month table in February
b. Lunar New Year Display- Dragon heads and parade- share video for us to include in website/ publicize PTA and our events
c. March- Women’s history month.
d. International Happiness Day over Spring Break- putting together a flyer for Friday Folders
e. April- Mudra Indian Dance Group Monday, 4/20. 30-45 minute dance performance
f. Laura Miller and Laura Collis- Neurodiversity Event for next year. Need to figure out logistics of where and when with school.
i. Would need donations of cardboard boxes, tape, craft supplies
7) SAC Report-
a. April 7- all principals will be trained to begin conversations about school consolidations. Lots of rumors but there are no decisions yet.
i. By open enrollment of 2027 (Winter 2027) they will roll-out the changes. Changes wouldn’t take place until Fall of 2027.
b. School board visit occurred on February 24- looked at goals for Unified Improvement plan
8) Committee Reports
a. Community/ Spirit Nights- Victoria Scarffe
i. Mountain Kids event was wonderful. Feedback to do it again. Request for more kids to participate next year. We will likely get between $700-$1,000
ii. Do again fall and Spring.
iii. Rockies game 4/4-4/5
iv. Urban Air 4/30
b. Teacher Appreciation- Katie McGuire
i. No report
c. Spring Auction- Dania Edwards
i. Not sure what the upfront event budget is.
ii. Make sure email blasts list examples of what is available in the auction.
iii. Could we put class baskets on display in the entry for people to see?
iv. Student Council is handing out flyers before school.
v. We need to do a better job next year of getting her support/ a whole committee

vii. Stallion Social 4/10 at Bohemian Biergarten in Boulder
1. Very short on ticket sales- need to push it.
2. Separate email dedicated to Stallion Social

11) Principal’s Report- Principal Stein
a. New math curriculum for next year. Went to Mesa elementary to observe.
b. Musical was amazing.
c. Enrollment- great. 3 rounds each grade. Around the same number of students or higher. We might be the only school in the district in that realm right now. 93% capacity this year. Only school close to that is 78% capacity.
i. Class sizes high in lower elementary (Kindergarten particularly)
ii. Right now our kindergarten enrollment is 19 students/ class for next year. But Kindergarten enrolls later
1. Could PTA fund an additional para for kindergarten? Currently have 3 paras (1 in each class) (4 hours/ day)
2. Our current para support should be communicated out to families
iii. No wait list right now.
iv. No real increase in open enrollment for next year
v. PTA $70K+ contribution funds our 3rd and 4th grade academic tutors

b. Revamp fundraising platform- A single ask- not a bunch of events throughout the year.
i. How many 5th grade families are contributing? We need to change messaging to contributing for this year so they make their donation for the year in the fall.

a. Principal Stein- Will be looking at homework policy compared with the district
b. Growth in Reading and Math/ Looking at how to continue to grow for all students
c. New Math Program- Coming next year. Math Expressions is going away. Illustrative Math will be new program

a. Closing open enrollment season- projections for next year are very good. Will be a 3-round school.
b. Climate/ culture is going well
c. Giving tours to families that don’t live in the area and want to enroll here.
d. 2nd-5th grade took a student survey. SES is achieving at a higher level than district level for climate and safety
e. Some grade levels have higher numbers than other schools (kindergarten in particular).
f. Alyssa- maternity leave soon
g. 30th year of 5th grade musical
h. Outdoor education meeting at 6:00pm
i. Eldorado projected 6th grade enrollment from SES- it’s increased

c. Compliance- just filed last year’s tax return. Renewed registration with Colorado Secretary of State
d. Benevity- Employer match donations. Should promote to other families to use.
i. Text message saying it employee match may expire by the end of the year
5) Community Impact Committee Report- Karen Brady/ Megan Zielinski
a. Completed Dia de los Muertos and Diwali display at front of school
b. Mr. Posey helped put together a Diwali video
c. Veteran’s Day Assembly on Friday November 14
d. World Disability Day to be celebrated on December 3rd.
e. Lights We Share- Art projects answering the question “I bring the light to the world by…”
f. Spring: Mudra Indian Dance Group, Lunar New Year, Neurodiversity, Potential Public Art Piece with Mr. Posey (either this Spring or next year)
6) SAC Report-
a. School Plan does not need to be updated this year because completed last year.
b. 90-day plan update. Incorporating more time for students to ask questions. Examining Small group instruction.
c. Homework Study- district-wide study that we’ll be participating in.
7) Committee Reports
a. Community/ Spirit Nights- Victoria Scarffe
i. Is there a way to make the spirit nights more of a community event?
ii. Is the PTA a member of the Superior Chamber of Commerce this year? They can help us with advertising.
b. Teacher Appreciation- Katie McGuire
i. Will ask Family pot-luck style for 2 meals during teacher conferences and Busaba donation for 1 meal
ii. For Teacher Appreciation week, meals are not provided every day. Some are creative donations (car washes).
c. Spring Auction- Dania Edwards
i. Potential dates: March 27th or April 10th (Friday April 10 preferred).
ii. Silent Auction a week leading up to the event, ending on the event.
iii. Kevin Grosse- works for Big Red F (they own multiple restaurants). They could provide food/ cater or hold it at the Post in Lafayette.
iv. Louisville Elementary School- held their event at Ascent event space that also had childcare. Could bring in your own alcohol.

a. December 10: Spirit Night- Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers
b. January 13: Spirit Night- Chuck-E-Cheese 3:00pm-9:00pm
9) Principal’s Report- Principal Stein
a. Open Enrollment Season- 4 tours with 40 families thus far. More tours than this time last year.
b. Halloween went well- Parade started a little early
c. 435 students currently enrolled. Looking to maintain that/ not get too large.
i. Last year was the first year we were on a wait list (every year but 5th grade).
d. 90-day plan work going well.
e. Halloween- egg vandalism incident. Older High School kids wearing masks.
f. 2027- Bond Project- met with contractors. Getting a new HVAC system. Additional cameras in some blind spots and at vestibule. Concrete repair on the back stairs down to the lower playground. Fresh Paint.
g. Jose- custodian for 28 years retired on Halloween. Had inside parade for him.
h. Free lunch and breakfast approved again
i. After school programming- looking to expand offerings.
j. Playworks did an audit of our recesses/ training for structured play at recess for paras. Working to have an “opening” and “closing” for recess. We were able to do that because a few paras went to their training before.
k. January- allocations in budget for substitute teachers on Wednesdays so they can host meetings those days.
l. He’s done 60 walk throughs so far this year- kids seem well behaved and happy. Students took a climate survey and he’ll share those outcomes at the next meeting.
m. Parent Survey- Received 12 responses so far.
10) Food Pantry Needs/ Student Council Canned Food Drive
a. Principal Stein hasn’t heard any need yet. Will let us know if he hears of any.
11) Next Meeting: January 14, 6:00pm-7:00pm
12) New Business
a. Thermometer Fundraiser- Get to $100,000. Let them know where we are in fundraising goal. Rewards for benchmarks.
i. Order Thermometer.
ii. Include thermometer in PTA blast.
