ELRP Staff Rules
As a staff member of East London Roleplay Community (ERLC), your actions will set the tone for the server's environment. To ensure that our community thrives, we have established the following staff rules. Please read them carefully and adhere to them at all times.
Respect All Players: Treat all players, fellow staff members, and community members with respect and courtesy, regardless of rank, experience, or role.
Set a Positive Example: Your behavior should reflect the server’s values. Be a role model in how you communicate, handle situations, and support others.
No Discrimination: Do not engage in any form of discrimination based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, or any other personal characteristic. This applies to both players and other staff members.
Fairness is Key: Always remain impartial when handling reports, issues, or player interactions. Do not show favoritism or bias toward any player.
Avoid Conflicts of Interest: If you are involved in a situation with a player or group of players (e.g., as friends or acquaintances), you should recuse yourself from handling that case.
Keep Information Private: Staff members are often privy to sensitive information regarding players, incidents, or server updates. Do not share this information with anyone outside of the staff team.
No Exploiting Privileged Information: Do not use any confidential knowledge gained from your staff role to gain an unfair advantage in-game or in any other setting.
Respond in a Timely Manner: Acknowledge and address reports or support tickets as soon as possible. Ensure players feel heard and valued.
Accurate Documentation: When dealing with player reports or complaints, document the situation thoroughly. Make sure your actions are clear, fair, and justifiable.
Be Transparent: If necessary, explain your actions to the players involved in a respectful and professional manner.
Enforce Server Rules Consistently: Ensure that the server’s rules are followed fairly and consistently by all players. Do not make exceptions unless warranted by special circumstances.
Be Objective in Rule Enforcement: When issuing warnings or bans, make sure it is based on facts and consistent with the server's guidelines. Avoid making decisions based on personal feelings.
Avoid Power Abuse: Do not use your staff powers for personal gain or to harass, bully, or punish players without just cause.
Clear and Professional Communication: Whether in-game or in staff channels, always communicate clearly and professionally. Avoid using offensive language, aggressive tones, or disrespectful behavior.
Work Together: Staff members should collaborate and support each other. If you are unsure about something, ask for assistance or clarification from senior staff members.
Avoid Drama: Keep personal issues out of the server and staff communication channels. Any form of drama or toxicity will not be tolerated.
Respect Your Rank: Staff powers are given to help the community, not to intimidate or control players. Use your rank responsibly and understand the limits of your permissions.
Do Not Abuse Powers: Powers should never be used for personal benefit, including in-game advantages or revenge against players. This includes bans, kicks, and administrative commands.
Temporary Removal of Powers: If you feel that you cannot be impartial or professional in your duties, notify a senior staff member to step down temporarily.
Remain Calm and Patient: When dealing with frustrated or upset players, remain calm and avoid getting involved in arguments. De-escalate situations where possible.
Use Warnings First: If a player is breaking the rules, give them a chance to correct their behavior before issuing harsher consequences. Use warnings to promote learning and improvement.
Do Not Engage in Personal Conflicts: If a player is upset with you personally or makes personal comments, do not retaliate. Instead, refer them to a higher staff member if necessary.
Be Active: Staff members are expected to remain active on the server. If you need to step away for any reason (e.g., vacations or personal matters), notify the leadership team.
Attendance: Regular check-ins are required to stay updated on server developments and to be aware of any issues that may need attention.
Respect Staff Decisions: If higher-ranked staff make decisions regarding your role or responsibilities, respect their authority and take feedback constructively.
Report Rule Violations: If you witness any staff member breaking the server's rules or acting unprofessionally, report the behavior to a higher staff member or leadership.
Maintain Integrity: If you receive a complaint about your actions, be open to feedback and address it in a constructive manner.
Stay Focused on Your Role: While you're on staff, focus on your responsibilities. Do not mix your staff duties with personal playtime or multitask in a way that negatively impacts your performance.
Use Separate Accounts for Playing: If you need to play for personal enjoyment, use a separate account to avoid conflicts of interest while acting in your staff role.
Encourage Positive Roleplay: Help cultivate a fun and creative roleplaying environment by guiding new players and encouraging great roleplay standards.
Foster Inclusivity: Ensure all players feel welcome, regardless of their experience level. Encourage a healthy, respectful atmosphere that nurtures creativity and community.
