I got my PhD in Operations Research at Cornell University (1997).

My PhD advisor was Bernd Sturmfels.

I have been at SFSU Mathematics Department since 2000.

My research interests are centered around computational algebraic geometry with applications in optimization and algebraic statistics.

Some key words related to my research are Gröbner bases, toric varieties and toric ideals, polytopes, combinatorial commutative algebra, maximum likelihood degree, algebraic statistical models, sums-of-squares, spectrahedra, and linear/convex optimization.
