Theme and Logo

From SER President Carol Peace

Let me tell you about my logo. I love the circle and use it as my base. I look for unity, the wholeness represented by the implied connected, unbroken completeness of the wreath. I am reminded of the bond we share by the holding of hands when we are singing the Lamp of Alpha Delta Kappa. This is a sphere of love for our sisterhood.

My next desire is to represent each state. Every time I think of our SER gatherings, I am reminded of the beauty of the shining faces looking at podium. Oh, if you could see how wonderous you look!! The only state symbol that came close to representing this glory was the flowers. Kentucky- the goldenrod, Maryland – the black-eyed Susan, North Carolina - the flowering Dogwood, South Carolina- the yellow Jessamine, Tennessee- the Iris, Virginia- the American Dogwood, and West Virginia- the Rhododendron. All are represented on the wreath and together make a glorious bouquet representing the SER.

Besides the words identifying the region and my year of service, you will notice the logo on the purple ribbon from which my goals will build.

Together We Will.

I was fortunate to have grandsons who loved Bob the Builder. Yes, his question of “Can we build it? YES, we can!” had some influence upon me but my logo takes it farther. WE WILL. Not just that we can but we ARE going to do something this year in the SER for Alpha Delta Kappa.

My focus will be on the word together.

My first point is the word TOGETHER

Together, I see the importance of attending conventions, conferences and state gatherings all for the purpose of continuing our professionalism. Together, we gain our strength as members and rejuvenate our spirit for our organization. We network and meet new sisters with same interests. We also benefit from the usage of the multitude of scholarships and grants available enhancing our education. There is no better time to remind ourselves of what Alpha Delta Kappa means to us and what Alpha Delta Kappa can do for others.

With a slight variation my second point is TO GATHER

Alpha Delta Kappa allows us to gather for like purposes to assist others, locally and worldwide. With local and Connect book clubs designed to provide awareness of diversity and world understanding, chapter meetings organized to meet and provide for the International Teacher Education students sponsored by Alpha Delta Kappa or whether we are raising funds for St. Jude or Alzheimer’s Association, or local projects, we gather together with kindred spirits to support worthy causes with our altruistic support.

My final point coming from TOGETHER takes some thought. Take a second and see if you see it before the third point is posted. How many saw it? Raise your hand.

Yes, it is TO GET HER, and it relates to our membership.

You have heard it, but I will repeat it. If we intend to be a viable organization, we must grow. Whether you recruit, reinstate, revitalize, or retain we must grow. So, I encourage you this year to To get her!

In summary my logo and theme is Together We Will. If we in the SER wish to accomplish anything we will be most successful by working together. Be it at the chapter level, the state district level, the state level, the regional level and even the International level. But can we accomplish it? Walt Disney says if we can dream it we can do it.

I say let’s do it. Because, TOGETHER, WE WILL
