"The mission of Lowcountry Orphan Relief is to provide support services and aid to South Carolina children who have been identified as at-risk or suffering from abandonment, abuse, and/or neglect. The primary way we help children is through our Care Kits. Each child referred to us by a social worker through the Department of Social Services or other local organizations, receives a large, reusable bag filled with two weeks of clothing, shoes, socks, underwear, and pajamas, as well as stuffed animals, age-appropriate books, and toiletries. When requested, we also provide backpacks with school supplies. Our Care Kits help alleviate the trauma that a child is experiencing as well as assist with the transition into foster care. We want to make sure that every child feels valued, worthy, and loved. Since 2007, we have provided more than 41,000 Care Kits to children in the Lowcountry."
