Upcoming Dates to Remember:

In math this week, we practiced subitizing numbers 1-20 by playing “quick look”, using our number racks and then calculating +/- 1. We measured using non-standard units (unifix cubes and our feet!) We also began our first unit evaluation.

Small group guided reading groups began this week. Students practiced phonics, high frequency words, and reading strategies. First graders are responsible for learning to read and write these correctly!

In science, we explored the interaction between air and water and the fact that air takes up space. We also began collecting weather data on our weather calendars!
